Slow Cooked Smokey Pulled Pork

One of the easiest meals in the world 🙂 all it requires is patience of 12-hour waiting and the kitchen smells amazing while the slow cooker does its magic.

What You Need:
2.5kg pork shoulder
3 Brown onions – sliced
3 tablespoons smoked paprika
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1.5 teaspoon pepper
1.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper or chilli powder
3 teaspoon garlic powder
1.5 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder (optional)
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder (optional)
2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup water

How To:

  1. Mix together all of the dried spices and rub into all sides of the pork
  2. Place vinegar and water in bottom of slow cooker
  3. Carefully add pork (so you don’t wash off spices)
  4. Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours
  5. Remove pork and shred (remove any large fatty pieces and discard)
  6. Add juices from slow cooker as desired
  7. Cook for 10-12 hours at low heat

Barbecue Sauce:

  • ¾ cup apple juice
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon molasses
  • ½ teaspoon pure chile powder
  • ½ teaspoon granulated garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
